Services
Slide Alignment - A slide needs to be straight, round, parallel, and on the same plane. If there is a problem with any of these your slide will not function at it's highest level. I can repair most slides to make them play to their potential. Sometimes parts are an issue and I can replace them if necessary.
Leadpipe Removal - Sometimes the only thing standing between the player and the instruments potential...is a bad leadpipe. Often they are damaged in cleaning. I can remove your existing leadpipe and add a ring to allow it to be removable...and so you can try other pipes. Some leadpipes are stubborn and a choice needs to be made whether to save the leadpipe or the inner tube. I'll verify your wishes before continuing.
Axial and Rotor Valve Servicing - If you need help taking your valves apart, cleaning, aligning, replacing the rotor stops, I can help. I'm very familiar with Axial flow valves. I put my first set of Ed Thayers Axial flow valves on nearly twenty years ago and I've worked on many Edwards, Getzens, Shires and Bach axials.
Linkage Modification - Some instruments have a noisy linkage that can be updated with nylon ball and sockets...much quieter, inexpensive, and often a shorter throw.
Open Wraps, Valve Replacements, Valve Additions - If for any reason you want the wrap changed on your instrument I can do it. I'll also replace your old rotors with your choice of newer rotors, Axials or Hagmanns. I can also add a second valve to your single valve instrument ...or more.
Ergonomic Modifications - Modern instruments are getting heavy, especially bass trombones. This leads to wrist and tendon problems that can make playing miserable. I've helped many players with issues holding their instrument. Some are a simple bending of a lever to make the lever fit their hand better. Others require new levers, changing the location of the lever saddles, moving a bell brace, or adding a counterweight.
Tuning Slides and Crooks - I can shorten your tuning slide to bring your flat horn up to pitch, or to give you more room in first position. I can replace your existing slide crook with a different one for a change in the blow of your horn. Popular choices are King 3B on a Bach 16M, Shires on a Bach, or Conn on a King.
Normal Repair Stuff - Yes, I can take out a dent(s), change a water key spring or cork, help with cleaning and maintenance,Slide repair and alignment.
